Dear friends,

Greetings!

Yes, it would be good for all of us to know the 
details of the Regional Coordinators 
meeting.  Perhaps an initial agenda of the 
meeting should also be forwarded to us.  However, 
we would like to inform you that we will not be 
available on May 10 for the meeting.  Is it 
possible to move the meeting at a later date, perhaps May 20 onwards?

On another note, please find attached the KMU 
invitation and concept paper for the 22nd 
International Solidarity Affairs.  We are hoping 
APWSL chapters can help circulate the invitation 
to their network and much more, be able to attend 
the International Solidarity Affairs.

Perhaps also you have heard about the tragic 
landslide in St. Bernard's town, Southern Leyte 
last Feb. 17.  The initial estimate was that 
2,000-3,000 people were buried in the 
landslide.  This includes women and children who 
are participating in an affair inside the town's public school.
To date, more than 80 persons are confirmed dead 
while more than 1,000 people are still 
missing.  Search and rescue operations are still 
continuing but they are hampered from time to 
time by bad weather and continuous rains.  They 
also have to stop the search and rescue 
operations by 6 p.m. since there is no electricity in the area.

Immediately after we learned about the incident, 
the KMU has called on its members, allies and 
supporters to gather financial and material 
support for the landslide victims.  We are 
working closely with our chapter in Eastern 
Visayas who would directly facilitate the 
distribution of goods in the affected areas.

WE ARE APPEALING ON YOUR KIND HEARTS FOR DONATION 
AND SUPPORT TO THE VICTIMS OF THE TRAGEDY.

We will be issuing the appeal letter in the international network shortly.
