2) Toyota's temporary workforce reduction / due to termination of
eco-friendly car subsidy.
Kyodo News Service dated August 10 reported as follows.
It was clarified on August 10, that Toyota Motor had reduced temporary
workforce which was about 2,300 at the end of March to about 1,800 at the
end of July. The company had increased the number of worker due to the
growth of the rising countries market and good demand for eco-friendly car,
but it changed the direction to curb the employment because the eco-friendly
car subsidy will become invalid at the end of September, and the sales seems
to be depressed.
The maximum number of the temporary workforce of Toyota was about 11,600 in
2005 when the achievement was expanding. However, the new hiring was
terminated from the end of June in '08 because auto sales had gotten
depressed due to the worldwide economic slump, and it became a decreasing
tendency. Afterwards, the number of worker has been secured by restarting
the adoption due to the recovery of sales of the eco-friendly car in
October, '09, and extending the employment period.
Toyota is planning to decrease output in October by about 20 percent
compared to that in September, and correspond to adoption carefully.
