Dear Mr President

 

We write to register our concern ,at the continued denial of 233 Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation Workers Association members, to their unconditional reinstatement.

Also to protest the criminal charges against 26 TMPCWA officials. 

 

We oppose your efforts to invent a new certification election.

This is a set up by management at Toyota Philippines and not from the workers base. This contradicts the fact that a union is an organization of workers with officials elected by workers set up without interference by management.

 

This is being done in breach of a standing order effected by the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE), stating that no new certificate election be allowed whilst an unresolved dispute between workers and management pre-exists.

 

This also over-rides a previous decision made by the Supreme Court of the Philippines and the International Labour Organisation confirming the exclusive bargaining rights of the Toyota Motor Corporation Workers Organisation.

 

Supervisory employees are now to be counted as voters in shop floor workers interests in an effort to set up a highly questionable alternative to the TMPCWA.

 

 

Management has not taken responsibility for their actions.

For 6 years they have denied the legitimate union (TMPCWA), chosen by the rank and file, their collective rights despite no illegal action on behalf of the workers or their representatives.
