<DIV><STRONG>1)Protest Rally against temporary worker cutbacks was
held.<BR></STRONG>On 22nd February, 2009, ‘Protest Rally against temporary
worker cutbacks in Aichi’ was held, and the real situation of cutbacks of many
temporary workers due to Toyota Motor’s great decrease in output. Total 525 of
layoff workers, labor supporters, labor union members, and lawyers participated.
And members of ATU, ATU.S, APWSL-Aichi also
participated. After the Rally, they did demonstration march for about 3km to
Toyota’s operation office in Nagoya.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG>2)No.30th Toyota Rally was held.<BR></STRONG> On 21st
February,2009, ‘No.30th Toyota Rally’ was held. About 1600 workers participated,
with banners, union flags, and Toyota Motor’s workers spoke about the situation
of their working places. The members of ATU, ATU.S, APWSL-Aichi also
participated. <BR>Rally declaration including “Overcome poverty ! life crisis
and change politics” was adopted. After the Rally, <BR>they did demonstration
march to front of the Toyota Motor’s headquarter office.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG>3)Submitted petition to Toyota and Mitsui
Corporation.<BR></STRONG> From 9:00 on 11th February 2009, the 3
representatives of TMPCWA.S-Aichi visited headquarter of Toyota Motor, to submit
petition requiring early settlement of labor dispute in the Philippines Toyota.
<BR>The chief of the representatives read the petition letter and tried to hand
it Toyota staff, but he denied to receive. The chief strongly protested to him,
and mentioned that they will post the letter to president Watanabe directly.
<BR>On 16th,February 2009, a member of APWSL-Aichi visited Chubu subsidiary
office of Mitsui Corporation, which is a big shareholder of the Philippines
Toyota, and handed the petition letter. And he explained that early settlement
of the labor dispute will give benefit for Mitsui Corp. and requested their
cooperation for early settlement of the dispute.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG>4)No.2nd Labor Seminar regarding ‘Toyota’was
held.<BR></STRONG> After ATU.S meeting, continuous No.2nd ‘Toyota’ Labor
Seminar was held. This seminar is mainly for subcontract workers, with the
subtitle of ‘Investigation of the downstream of Toyota’.<BR>No.1 Seminar was
about the problem of temporary worker cutbacks. Mr.Naojiro Tomei and his wife,
from Okinawa, working at Chuo Spring Co., one of the Toyota’s subcontract
company, were suddenly laid off immediately after requesting paid holiday. They
are still under dispute to request withdrawal of this unfair cutbacks.<BR>
The theme of this time was the problem of camouflage contract by Aichi Steel
Co., one of the Toyota group companies. Irresponsible stance of Aichi Steel, and
serious labor situation like intermediary exploitation by temp agency,
concealment of industrial disasters etc. were clarified. 60 people or more
listened ardently.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG>5)No.2nd Meeting of ATU.S was held.<BR></STRONG> 1st February,
2009, No.2nd Meeting of ATU.S was held in Nagoya.35members participated, and
reported and summarized last year’s activities. And confirmed to continue
aggressive support for ATU, and negotiate with Toyota, and participate the local
area’s labor movements, under new leaders. ATU representative Mr.Wakatsuki
reported current problems about Toyota, and the union’s policies to them.</DIV>
