<br>>I write to cordially invite you to the steering committee meeting of Asian

<br>>Labour Exchange. ALE has been created in 2005 to meet an urgent need to

<br>>enhance dialogue and exchange on crucial issues of the labour movement among

<br>>regional networks and organizations working on Asian labour. Participating

<br>>organizations now want to send a long overdue invitation to other prominent

<br>>regional labour related organizations to join ALE. We believe your

<br>>participation will greatly contribute to deepening our discussion and

>widening the scope of cooperation in ALE.

<br>>

<br>>

<br>>In one year period, March 2006-March 2007, ALE has focused on its two main

<br>>programs that were found strategically important in a number of discussions

<br>>among ALE members. Those programs were new initiatives in organizing

<br>>informal labour and woman leadership. The general objective of ALE for

<br>>2006-2007 is to contribute to the fields of "new way of organising",

<br>>"promotion of women in leadership positions" and "enhanced dialogue on

<br>>crucial labour issues among regional labour organizations and networks". In

<br>>doing so, we would like to connect the actors in a progressive labour

<br>>movement. We are also launching a website for the same purpose. In pursuing

<br>>that general objective ALE has also written booklet on new ways of

>organizing based on experience in Hong Kong, India, Korea, and Indonesia.

<br>>This booklet later on will be used as learning material as well as

>facilitating the connection among actors in a progressive labour movement.

<br>>ALE has also conducted woman leadership training. So far it has been

>conducted in Thailand. Meanwhile, website is in the setting up process.

<br>>
