<br><br>>Nepal. In the last APWSL Malaysia meeting we
<br><br>>focused the issues mainly on Nepal democratic
<br><br>>government, Philippine struggle for democracy
<br><br>>and Migrant workers problems in Korea and neo
<br><br>>globalization and problems of irregular workers.
<br><br>>Now we are glad that Nepal problem has been solved.

<br><br>>I am glad to inform you that I had been to
<br><br>>Philippines and visited ISA on International May
<br><br>>day and attended the meeting in Manila. I am
<br><br>>very happy to meet all friends and agricultural workers.
<br><br>>

<br><br>>After that I visited Church of South India for
<br><br>>two weeks. Firstly I attended a consultation on
<br><br>>Migrant Mission in Indian context in Chennai and
<br><br>>then visited the South Kerala diocese of CSI for
<br><br>>a partnership meeting, then visited Bangalore
<br><br>>and met the Korean missionaries and then
<br><br>>proceeded to Kurnool and Hyderabad and met many
<br><br>>dalit people, and experienced the Indian culture
<br><br>>and I could also understand the freedom of
<br><br>>political situation in India though it is a big
<br><br>>country with so many political parties. I
<br><br>>returned to Korea on 15th of June. I wish after
<br><br>>the unification in Korea this kind of freedom in
<br><br>>political system would exist in Korea also.

<br><br>>As all of us are aware that its already two
<br><br>>years passed since we had our APWSL Regional
<br><br>>meeting in Thailand. Though we had planned to
<br><br>>have one more regional programme in Thailand in
<br><br>>the month of May, we could not do so due to lack
<br><br>>of financial support, and could not meet and plan.
<br><br>>

<br><br>>
<br><br>>Now I would like to propose to host our regional
<br><br>>meeting in South Korea this time during the first week of November.
<br><br>>

<br><br>>1 . APWSL Regional Coordinators Conference with
<br><br>>the support of Osan Migrant Workers Cultural Centre-
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>> It is a 7 country joint programme with
<br><br>> Thailand, Japan, Srilanka, Philippines and New
<br><br>> Zealand and conveners from Australia and Korea.
<br><br>> But I am sorry to express that due to financial
<br><br>> constraint we can only provide air tickets for
<br><br>> three countries- Thailand, Srilanka and
<br><br>> Philippines and to one more additional member
<br><br>> country Indonesia. As agreed in our last
<br><br>> General meeting of APWSL Malaysia, I request
<br><br>> the remaining countries (New Zealand, Australia
<br><br>> and < st1:place>Japan) to meet their travel
<br><br>> expenses by themselves. We will provide all
<br><br>> other facilities like food, accommodation, and local travel etc.
<br><br>>
<br><br>>

<br><br>>I would like to have your suggestions and
<br><br>>confirmations in this regard. If you agree to
<br><br>>this travel arrangement then we can go ahead with the programme.

<br><br>>I request you to kindly give your response
<br><br>>by 10th July so that we can start preparing the schedule for the programme.

<br><br>>Secondly, soon after the above meeting the APWSL
<br><br>>-Korea will support another meeting with
<br><br>>members from 8 countries to discuss the Asia
<br><br>>labor Political situation and making
<br><br>>resolutions and exposing the living situations
<br><br>>of the labor. we can also visit some factories
<br><br>>and companies for our observation. The meeting
<br><br>>will be over by 12th November which is the
<br><br>>Memorial day of Jun Tae Il. As you may
<br><br>>know, Jun Tae il is considered to be a labor
<br><br>>Hero who initiated the great democratic movement
<br><br>>in South Korea by consuming himself for the
<br><br>>cause of the working class. And his Death
<br><br>>Anniversary day is celebrated as Korea Labor Day on 12th Nov. every year.
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>>So the whole programme will start on 1st
<br><br>>November and will finish by 12th Nov. Then you
<br><br>>can leave to your countries on 13th Nov.
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>>
<br><br>>This schedule will be confirmed by next week in the APWSL Korea meeting.
<br><br>>
<br><br>>This meeting is going to be in the same lines as
<br><br>>it was conducted in Philippines 22nd ISA on May
<br><br>>Day with a delegation of 30 members from 11 countries.
<br><br>>

<br><br>>
<br><br>>Lastly I request your suggestions in preparing
<br><br>>the schedule for the successful conducting of
<br><br>>this programme. As soon as I receive the names
<br><br>>of participants from the above 7 countries, then
<br><br>>I can prepare invitation letters for your visa purpose.
