East Japan Earthquake, nuclear power plant disaster, and workers’ unity 3

For all member of APWSL in each country.
Support activities by workers and labor unions continue since earthquake 
disaster on March 11. And, voice to request abolition of nuclear power plant 
become bigger day by day.  In Aichi and Tokai area, various meetings and 
demonstrations are promoted.
Moreover, the leader of rescue operation at Chernobyl nuclear accident 
departed for the contaminated land to give advice to recover the polluted 
farmland.

5) General meeting of TMPCWA supporters in Aichi
On May 28, general meeting of TMPCWA supporters in Aichi was held, and they 
discussed about the activity report of recent 1 year and action line of 
coming 1 year.
In the global age, struggle and unity under cooperation of workers and labor 
unions without border are more strongly requested.
A special lecture included the lecture by former worker side director of ILO 
Mr. Shigeru Nakashima.
He lectured about the content of the agreement of ILO like "Decent work" and 
"Gender equal principle" etc., and the necessity of ratification.

4) Informal meeting about Tohoku earthquake and auto sector in Aichi
It was held sponsored by ATU support citizens meeting on 26th.
Reports from each group were 1. Regional situation after earthquake. : 
Professor Mr. Saruta. 2. Situation of factory and workers in Toyota. : 
Chairman of ATU Mr. Wakatsuki. 3. Situation among workers of Toyota’s 
subcontract companies. : Secretary-General of Nagoya Fureai Union Mr. Asano. 
4. Current situation of foreign workers. : Chief Director of NPO Exchange 
Net Mr. Hayashi. 5. Real situation of trainees. : Executive of General labor 
union in Gifu. Mr. Iwata.

3) Union cooperation action
On 24th. There was a joint action of regional unions against Toyota 
subcontract companies continuously from April. 1. Shirogane Plating Co.Ltd 
( dismissed a Philipino female employee, by the reason that  she used paid 
holiday. ) 2. Sawadakogyo Industry Co. ( dismissed a Peruvian worker who 
requested compensation for workmen's accidents of disability rank 10. )
The propaganda activity was done in front of the building where the Toyota 
Nagoya office and Toyota-affiliated companies are located before Nagoya 
Station after the above mentioned action.

2) Regular core member meeting of Nishi-Mikawa net
There was a regular core member meeting of Nishi-Mikawa net on 16th.
One of the member, Mr. Tsubasa Ishikawa (25) was elected to the member of 
the Anjo City assembly for the first time. So, they congratulated him, and 
decided execution day of "Labors declaration hotline 110" of this year on 
July 17 and November 23.

1) May Day
Customary May Day events were done in 7 places of Aichi prefecture on 1st.
Members of ATU and ATU・S participated to Aichi Prefecture Central May Day 
in Nagoya and Anjo district May Day. They distributed "Union unity news" 
(May Day version) at the entrance of the Nagoya event place. The ATU union 
member also participated energetically in the Anjo event raising the placard 
etc. of "JTEKT should admit Mr. Tanaka's reinstatement".
