We got the information that ATU is preparing their statement and request to 
the company about the series of Toyota recall problem.



5）The JAWN meeting was held.

The exchange training camp of JAWN was held during 2 days, March 27 and 28 
in Toyota City.

On the afternoon of the first day, The 6th Toyota continuousness study 
meeting "Workers of Toyota that can be seen from the consultation" hosted by 
the ATU・S was held. Afterwards, the current situation of activities and 
struggles of each office last year were reported. Next day, there were 
discussion about support of the Philippines Toyota labor union, and 
participation for Labor Notes rally, and the future policies.



4）The 6th collective bargaining with Fine Sinter Co Ltd.

The 6th collective bargaining of ATU and Fine Sinter Co Ltd. was held in 
Kasugai City on the 26th.

There were answers from the company about improving pay and the lump sum 
demand (bonus), etc. to the spring labor offensive demand in 2010 from ATU. 
But from the beginning to the end, there was no sincere answer from the 
company, mentioning “We don’t care.”, ”No need to answer.” etc., about 
the problem of fair human affairs treatment for union member K, and request 
to improve office safety (environmental problems etc.). ATU will continue 
further negotiation.



３）The study meeting with the theme of Toyota recall problem.

There were participants from ATU・S in the small study meeting of Society for 
Workload Research held in Kyoto on the 13th. "Toyota recall problem" was 
taken in the main theme there.  The reporter was Mr. N of Honda (Hamamatsu), 
and he reported deep analysis as "Think about the Toyota recall problem and 
how we should work".  And the opinions were exchanged based on it.



２）A temporary employee committed suicide in Toyota Auto Body Ltd.

Around 6:00AM of March 12, there was an accident of "Hydrogen sulfide" 
suicide in the Prius car of the assembly line at the Fujimatsu factory of 
Toyota group company Toyota Auto Body Ltd. The dead man was a temporary 
worker with non-regular employment agreement until the end of March. ATU 
thinks, it was protesting suicide desponding of his future. He might have 
living way, if he phoned to ATU beforehand.



１）Delegation requesting withdrawal of NUMMI factory shutdown visited to 
Japan.

The delegation from state of California, where the withdrawal of US NUMMI 
(joint venture company of GM and Toyota) factory shutdown was requested at 
the end of March, came to Japan urgently, and requested to the headquarters 
in Toyota City on March 7. The Toyota headquarters answered them that they 
will shutdown the factory according to schedule at the end of March.  ATU・S 
undertook translation of the request book from the delegation before their 
visit to Japan.
