3)The 5th ATU Regular Rally

The 5th regular rally of ATU was held on September 27th.

In the opening greeting by Mr.Wakatsuki, he looked back on the activities of 
last one year, and he introduced  new union members, and number of 
counterparty company of collective bargaining increased to 6, adding related 
parts manufacturing company to Toyota, DENSO, Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd., JTEKT, 
and Toyota Auto Body, and that the union member's trial to have started 
newly, they are making efforts to grapple with a lot of problems and the 
movements while there was not a specified staff either though small number 
of people were the unions.

In the greeting from ATU・S, it was appealed that Toyota is one of the top 
enterprise in the world, and not only with the top manufacturing and sales 
but it has a strong influence on Japanese economy, local area’s economy, 
and politics, so "Coping with Toyota" movement is important because of the 
standpoint of the trade union movement.

And it was introduced assuming that there were meeting of ATU as the "Insect 
in the lion body of Toyota", together with the Aichi Labors Union, the 
Nishi-Mikawa south Labors Union, ATU・S, TMPCWA supporters in Aichi, APWSL 
Aichi, and Japan Automobile Workers Network (JAWN) . Therefore, the moving 
region was extended drastically compared with the union formation, and so 
all union members’ role are important and we should aim to get more members 
of new generation who will succeed the movement.



2)Aichi "Headquarters action" to support TMPCWA

The struggle by TMPCWA and the activity to support them in Japan counted 
nine years.

The approach of Aichi of "The 4th anti-Toyota world campaign" started by the 
street advertisement and the street rally around "Midland square" in front 
of Nagoya Station on the afternoon of the 20th.

This "Midland Square" is the tallest skyscraper in Central Japan district of 
247 meters on the ground and the 47th floors. Toyota Motor occupies showroom 
of the 2nd and the 3rd floor and the office room from the 17th floor to the 
40th floor as "Nagoya office", all the sales departments are consolidated, 
and about 3000 people are working.

The participant who exceeded 80 people went up after the street rally, with 
the union flag and the banner, and paraded in a peripheral pavement.

They moved to Toyota City where the headquarters of Toyota Motor is located, 
and opened "Meeting of unity and the exchange that supported TMPCWA" on that 
night, and the report and request for support that based on the Philippines 
situation such as entering of the recommendation of ILO and ILO high class 
investigation committee by chairman Edo.

The flyer distribution by 60 members was done in the terminal, the privy 
postern around the Toyota headquarters, and the parking lot doorway from 
around seven o'clock of early morning the 21st. From 9:30, the 6 delegation 
people to got in and see the person in charge of reception at the 
headquarters, explained the situation of movement of ILO and the 
Philippines, and strongly requested the solution on the negotiating forum at 
the early stage. Finally, forms with 481 signature of the individual and the 
group that allowed one's name to be added to those requests were handed.



1）The 1st public trial by Mr.Tanaka ofJTEKT

The 1st public trial by Mr. Tanaka of JTEKT one of the group enterprise of 
Toyota, who was the leave-taking being diagnosed as depression was opened on 
September 10. About 40 to 45 supporters gathered.

The focus of this trial is as follows.

The answer of the company to the offer of Mr. Tanaka's reinstatement is 
insisted on, "Because it was possible for him to work as much before he took 
leave with other people, we dismissed him normally, based on the working 
regulation". On the other hand, the plaintiff side insisted "It is 
impossible to work immediately after com-back at the same level before he 
took leave. The work and the body were gradually recover the feelings and be 
accustomed, and offers of the reinstatement was made at such stage".

According to the story of the lawyer on the plaintiff side, there is a 
judicial precedent where the case of the office returns while doing 
"Pre-conditioning interim operation" is admitted

As for depression is one of the present age diseases, and the case diagnosed 
as "Non-fixed form type depression" by many young people recently. So the 
company’s admission of the working regulation, and therefore, the diagnosis 
of the industrial physician who holds it is admitted in the escutcheon 
disregarding Mr. Tanaka's physician in charge's diagnosis and dismissed him, 
cannot be acceptable.
