1) The 4th "Toyota" Labor Lecture Series
The 4th lecture of the Labor Lecture Series which assume "Looking around the
downstream of Toyota" main theme was held on October 25.
This theme is "Struggle of the foreign workers who request regular
employment. "The site of the struggle is Hikari Seiko Co.Ltd. in Mie
Prefecture next to Aichi, where the Toyota headquarters exists. It is the
first subcontractor as precise parts supplier for Toyota which manufactures
car precise parts, universal joints, engines, the transmission parts, and
bearings, etc.
The labor union "Union Mie" is organized with this company. "Grupo Hikari"
organized with the Japanese brazilian worker has joined here. We heard
abount the situation from Mr. Alexsandro Onari, who is the representative.
36 union members continue struggle for regular employment based on the law,
through 3times strike etc, receiving the dismissal attack.
2) Formation Meeting by Supporters Group for Mr. Tanaka of JTEKT
The formation general meeting of the trial supporters group for Mr.Tanaka of
JTEKT, was held on October 09 as reported. Besides ATU and ATU・S, Executive
Job Union Tokai where Mr. Tanaka first asked consultation, and a lot of
individuals and groups participated in this general meeting.
Mr. Tanaka described hid gratitude to support first, and he told about 'Free
overtime work' and the situation that he had to work till late, and was
driven in mentally, and got depression. In addition, he clarified the
mortifying feeling against dismissal, and desire to win without fail.
3) ATU・Fine Sinter proposed about the labor safety hygiene problem to LSIO
The followings are the report about the reported struggle at Fine Sinter
Co.Ltd. on October 09.
One is a struggle for the pay discrimination correction to the mentally
deficient person at the washing factory who works with the ATU union member.
Another is a struggle for heat stroke measure of the office with high
humidity and heat of 40 and more degrees at the summer time.
They had already been declared these problems to Labor Standards Inspection
Office, and visited there to hear about the result. However, they have not
received any good result.
4) The 1st Toyota continuous study meeting
The 1st study meeting, so-called "Toyota way", to learn about "Sense of
values and method that had to be shared by the person who worked in Toyota"
on October 04.
The productive system, Toyota way, and human affairs and the personal
management of Toyota are origin of the progress of Toyota. But they are
also, for workers, origin of exploitation, pain, and dividing.
It seems to be that getting into such Toyota style, made up by "Japanese
system", and knowing Toyota more deeply is indispensable provision for the
members who struggle to unite newly, and to share theoretical power. The
Toyota continuous study meeting was planned to study about the Toyota
philosophy as the locomotive of Japanese business society, in cooperation
with researchers about Toyota.
The lecturer of the 1st meeting Mr.Masaki Saruta, professor of Chukyo
University, introduced the Tailor Ford system origine of "Scientific
management". And clarified the feature of "Toyota system" from 4 sides
comparing with that. (We will omit the explanation of the details.)
