4) ATUS begins investigations on situation of temporary workers.
ATUS, at its general meeting held on April 22nd, proposed to investigate the
situation of temporary workers at Toyota and its related companies.
ATUS hopes to utilize the findings of the investigation for ATU’s future
campaigns.
The research will be conducted with the cooperation of university
researchers and regional unions.
3) Citizens and Labourers from Japan and Korea Meet
On April 18, a meeting involving 80 citizens and labourers from Japan and
Korea was held in Nagoya.
Korea Democratic Labor Union Director came to Japan and reported on the
struggles of the non-regular workers, and the current situation of their
union.
On Japan’s side, Committee Chairperson Wakatsuki reported on the
significance of establishing
ATU, and the progress and successes of the union’s campaign.
The crowd applauded the union’s appeal for the need of all workers and
unionists to go out on a general strike to fight against temporary workers’
lay off and pay cuts.
2) Three AWSL regions meet
On April 14, representatives from thethree regions of Tokyo, Kansai, and
Aichi held a meeting in Nagoya
to finalize the plans for the meeting between citizens and labourers from
Japan and Korea.
The meeting examined the proposal to send delegates to Korea in autumn, and
decided to examine the contents of this with their each regional staff.
The meeting also examined the schedule of Japan Committee General Meeting
and it’s contents.
Furthermore, it ratified to promote the publication of Japanese Committee’s
news ‘Links’.
Representatives from Aichi expressed their interest in exchanging
information between Japan and Korea, particularly about matters related to
automobiles, mutual issues concerning women, culture and life.
1) ATU・S made the leaflet for PR
On April 6, ATU・S made 1,000 copies of leaflet for their PR. It is with 3
colors, and 3 fold compact type.
The committee staff will use them to distribute at meetings, aiming to add
50% or more of current number of members. The leaflet also has the contents
of recommending workers in Toyota related companies to join ATU.
