4)Documentary “In Recognition of Mr. Uchino’s Death from Overwork”
Broadcast.
The documentary was broadcast by NHK.BS2 on May 26.
Nagoya District Court recognized in October 2007 that Toyota Motor staff
Mr. Uchino’s death resulted from overwork. This victory is still fresh in
our minds. The documentary, based on the family’s struggles during the
litigation, was produced by Manichi Broadcasting Co. and received much
coverage after winning many prizes. Despite the nationwide acclaim, the
documentary has never been aired until now. The documentary entitled
“Documentary 07: Why My Husband Died” is scheduled to be broadcast on June
14 (Sun.) around 15:20. Mrs Hiroko Uchino, widow and plaintiff, continues to
receive requests to give lectures nationwide, and is busy traveling all over
giving her lecture ‘Stop death from overwork! My husband will never come
home.’
3)Reimei Vol.7
Volume 7 of Reimei, ATUS-produced magazine, was released May 22. The main

TMPCWA Supporters Group General Meeting, report on strikes at Toyota France,

from APWSL Aichi, and the ATU page containing the Spring Offensive, members’
reunion, and May Day.
The magazine is A4 in size, totaling 16 pages. The next volume is scheduled
to be released on August 25.
2)TMPCWA Supporters Group General Meeting
TMPCWA Supporters Group General Meeting was held on May 16 in Yokohama.
Meeting attendants debated the way of furthering the movement in response to
relentless local struggles. Regarding lobbying the ILO, Chairman Edo and the
supporter’s representative from Japan are to be dispatched to conduct the
lobbying.
Aichi TMPCWA supporters group held its general meeting on May 31 in
Toyota city. Some 30 members participated. The main topics discussed were
the planned protest in September outside the Toyota Headquarters against the
company’s insincere actions, the request for a speedy resolution, and the
PR activities around Headquarters. The meeting was presented a new union
flag.
1)May Day
In the backdrop of declining union initiatives, May Day was celebrated in
central Nagoya and six regional districts of Aichi. In Anjo, where there are
many Toyota affiliated factories, ATU and ATUS members joined the energetic
200 strong May Day rally. ATUS members also participated in the central May
Day rally where some 4000 people had gathered. It was announced that
approximately 6000 people participated in May Day in the Aichi Prefecture.
