On June 24, the regular ATUS Management Committee meeting wad held, and the 
following matters were discussed:  (1) Project of 4th Toyota Labor Seminar 
Series. (2) Planning for The Study Group on Current Burden on Labor to be 
held in Nagoya in November. (3) Investigation on current situation of 
temporary workers at Toyota affiliated companies. (4)Planning the newly held 
$B!F(BToyota Study Meeting$B!G(B. (5) Planning for $B!F(BReimei vol.8$B!G(B magazine, 
scheduled to be issued in August.

4$B!K(BDemonstration at Toyota Motor Shareholders' Meeting
On June 23, Toyota Motor shareholders$B!G(B meeting was held at headquarters in 
Toyota city.  On the day, 20 TMPCWA supporters campaigned to get the 
attention of the shareholders in front of the headquarters and the station 
where the shuttle bus arrived and departed. Hiroko Uchino, the plaintiff who 
won recognition of her husband's death from overwork in the courts, spoke at 
the Shareholders$B!G(B meeting. The broad outline of the contents will be 
published in Reimei vol.8.

3$B!K(BTMPCWA Supporters in Aichi. Management Committee
On June 16, the members discussed the content of the campaign to pressure 
shareholders participating in the Toyota Motor shareholders$B!G(B meeting. The 
campaign will mainly focus on the issue of laying off 233 workers at 
Philippine Toyota, TMPCWA approval problem, the series of death threats 
against Chairman Mr. Edo by terrorists, and to campaign for Toyota 
headquarter for a speedy resolution. We also decided to conduct a strong 
public campaign on the ILO$B!G(Bs fourth recommendation to Toyota, to publicize 
the fact that this Toyota scandal to the world.

$B#2!K(B3rd Toyota Labor Seminar Series
On June 13, ATUS held its 3rd Toyota Labor Seminar. . The seminar was on the 
issue of Aichi Steel to officially hire Mr. Kubo. Aichi Steel has a legal 
obligation to hire him as a permanent worker, because Mr. Kubo had been 
working for more than 3 years as a temporary worker. The company far from 
meeting that obligation has instead requested to cancel his contract with 
the temp agency. Mr. Kubo was angry and said, $B!F(BI thought the company was 
affiliated with Toyota. This is clearly a case showing the reality of Toyota 
culling its temporary workers.

1) Meeting reporting Mr. Kawano$B!G(Bs court victory against Denso
On June 12, a meeting celebrating Mr. Kawano$B!G(Bs legal victory against Denso, 
one of main Toyota affiliated companies, was held.  Mr. Kawano was working 
at Denso at the time. He took Toyota and Denso to court for the depression 
that he suffered owning to power harassment he received from them.  He 
claimed that these companies did not pay enough attention to workers$B!G(B 
safety. After 5 years and 11 months, he finally won compensation. Mr. Kawano$B!G(Bs supporters vowed to establish permanent group to support workers who face 
difficulties in West Mikawa area (Toyota Bourg).  The struggle will 
continue.
