IMF Executive Committee endorses international effort to win
reinstatement of illegally fired workers from the Toyota Motor
Philippines Corporation.

NORWAY: At the International Metalworkers・Federation Executive
Committee meeting in Oslo, Norway, labor leaders unanimously backed the
launch of a global campaign to improve worker rights at two Toyota
Philippines factories.
Affiliates that spoke up in strong support of the effort argued that it
would be a step back for unions everywhere if the labour movement did
not take a stand against these injustices.

The campaign calls for the immediate reinstatement of some 136 illegally
dismissed workers from the Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation Workers
Association (TMPCWA). The action is a result of growing concern over
Toyota Philippines・refusal to recognise the union, bargain in good
faith, and reverse their decision to fire pro-union workers.

The Reinstate Them Now! campaign will keep affiliates informed of the
situation and new developments in the Philippines, as well as help
coordinate action to help win the reinstatement of the workers.
