Management Victimizing Workers of Capital Industry  



Dear Comrades,

On behalf of All Pakistan Trade Union Federation I would like to draw your kind attention about the worse situation of Capital Industries (PVT) Ltd (Eagle Cycle) workers situation which is located in Gulberg Industrial Area, Lahore, employing more than 600 workers.

Capital Industries Workers Union is affiliated with All Pakistan Trade Union Federation, Registered by the (NIRC). Workers of Capital Industry are struggling to safeguard their rights since years. Capital Industry Workers Union won the election but the management attitude is so harsh and against the workers, they flatly refuse to negotiate with union, although according to the labor laws it is compulsory to dialogue with the workers representatives. 

After one year hard struggle union succeeded to reach an agreement with the employer. As soon as the agreement signed, the management of the factory dismissed 27 workers just to topple down the workers union, not only this management encourage its pocket union members, increase their wages, promote them to boost their moral, instruct them to create hurdles and difficulties for the workers union. 

To snub the workers union management also established another factory out of Lahore where they start production of cycles to harass workers. 

The management is clearly violating the labor laws and ILO Conventions 98 and 87, according to the Industrial and Commercial Employment Standing Order Ordinance this practice of management is unfair labor practice, punishable but it is great regret to write here that the workers are unable to file their cases in courts due to lack of resources.

Meanwhile Management has terminated 165 workers including the activist of the union without any written order and reason. This is also a clear lockout on behalf of the management.

We inform you that the situation is very critical and there is a great unrest among the workers, any time workers have to go on strike. 

Although the union belief is to solve the problems by mutual negotiations but the management attitude is adamant and using the delaying tactics.
